Know photography more
You have to accept the fact that photography is an art in itself. Whether you are a beginner or a professional, you should get the hang of the theory of photography to get the best out of it. Try to get yourself down on the level of the object which you are going to capture to your photo. The selection of the background is another important step in photography. You should be able to choose colors or plain background according to the mood and the intension of the photograph.
You should have a proper knowledge on using flash and lighting needed for each situation where you are using a camera. Depending on the light availability in the surroundings, you should adjust the light of the room also. If you are taking photos outdoors, you should be able to get proper sunlight and from the right angle for your photograph.
Focusing is another major aspect of taking photographs. If you are far away from the object, your photo might not have the needed clarity. Hence you will have to move closer to the object. For this, you must have an idea about the flash and the category of the camera. Proper adjustments can be made in the camera flash to make the photo clearer.
You should understand the mood and must be able to add dramatic statement to the photos as and when needed. A proper capturing of shadows is needed for getting such a dramatic photograph.
